Thank you, Rep. Barton for saying what many of us are feeling and want to say, but don’t have the platform. You apology was deserved and I (and others) think you were right when you characterized what happened as a shakedown. That’s exactly what it was. Chicago-style gangster politics at it’s worst. Completely un-constitutional and certainly illegal.

Perhaps the fund should have been created (I have no good reason why it shouldn’t have been.), but the way it was gone about was wrong. Just a bit more of the mob styling of the Presidents political bent. Sad that we have to endure another 2 years of this. Let’s hope that by November they become a little bit more bearable.

It seems that the White House has one-upped Al Gore, bastard child of the environment. (Seriously, he’s like a modern day earth-child from the 60′s, but without the free-love and naked chicks.) Well, for all the blabbering (releasing of hot air full of carbon dioxide) that Mr. Gore does, I’m guessing he hasn’t saved 500 trees this year.

Looking to save $1 million, 20 tons of paper, or close to 500 trees, the White House said today President Bush’s 2009 Federal Budget will for the first time be posted online. The E-Budget will be available for downloading at the Office of Management and Budget Web site on Feb. 4.

Way to go White House. I’m not really sure why they haven’t done a lot more electronically. Think of the trees they could have saved with inquisitions that they pulled off for Iraq, 9/11, and Katrina.
