Huckabee: The Fun Candidate

The Huckabee campaign announced yesterday that geriatric wrestler Ric Flair is a supporter of Huckabee’s campaign for President.

“It means something to me that he has had a chance to look at every candidate and he has chosen to support me, and I appreciate it very much,” he said. “And he’ll get you in a choke hold if you don’t agree with it.”

Asked by a reporter if endorsements from celebrities like Flair and actor Chuck Norris trivialized his campaign, Huckabee said he has maintained “a serious focus on the issues” but predicted: “We’re going to have some fun throughout the campaign and I think that’s what’s going to help us to win when it’s all over.

The emphasis is mine.  Amen Pastor.  I’m not entirely sure that it will help him win, but it ought to be good to see a candidate having a little fun instead of the constant fighting that we see year in and year out.

Between the support of Ric Flair and Chuck Norris, all Huckabee needs now is a couple of decent evangelical supporters and he should be right up there with the rest of the candidates.  Obviously, the Dr. Dobson thing fell through, either due to the leak or because it wasn’t true in the first place.  Either way, the support of someone of that caliber would help cement the Christian vote.

It should be interesting to see how the CNN/YouTube debates go now that Huckabee is bringing Chuck Norris with.
